Tomato is a plant, which has high copper demand, and during sunny weather in summer ought to contain at least 12 mg Cu/kg of leaves dry mass. During low insolation (November) copper demand of tomato is at least 50% lower. Copper deficiency cause plant wilting in sunny days, plants lost buds and flowers, and comertial yield may be lower more than 50%. Quick and most effective method of copper deficiency preventing is to spray wilting plants with 0,4% hydrated copper sulphate. It was found that during high copper deficiency content of proline (amino acid connected with stress) may be 74 times higher, that means higher than during water deficiency. This suggests that copper deficiency increases tomato susceptibility for drought.
