This study was conducted to test the possibility of plant regeneration from callus tissue of Trifolium nigrescens Viv. Somatic embryos capable for development occurred when callus was removed from MS medium containing 8 mg/l 2,4-D and 2 mg/l kinetin and placed onto MS with 0,5 mg/l NAA and 2 mg/l 2iP. Embryoids induced directly on medium with NAA and 2iP displayed morphological abnormalities and never developed into plants. Organogenesis was observed when medium with 0,5 mg/l NAA and 2 mg/l 2iP was used. Somatic embryos and shoots were rooted on half-strength MS medium free of hormones. Plants obtained via somatic embryogenesis and organogenesis produced flowers and had typical morphological features.
