In 1988, 32 specimens of Triturus vulgaris and 24 of T. cristatus coming from Tarnobrzeg voivodship were examined for parasites. The investigation revealed 2 protozoan, 2 trematode and 3 nematode species in newts. The parasites were found in the small intestine, rectum and urine bladder. The parasite fauna of T. vulgaris and T. cristatus did not show any significant qualitative or quantitative differences, and contained the species of parasites specific of newts and the parasites common for ecaudate amphibians. The following parasitic species are recorded for the first time in T. cristatus in Poland: Diplodiscus subclavatus, Astiotrema trituri, Oswaldocruzia filiformis.
