The effect of intraperitoneally administered zinc ions and exogenous melanin on the rate of manganese ions accumulation and elimination in Balb c and C-57 Black mice was studied. The content of metal ions in the mice was measured radiochemical using 54MMn and 65Zn isotopes added in trace amounts to the ion solutions just before injection. The analysis of Mn2+ two-phase elimination in mice demonstrated that zinc ions accelerated the elimination of the manganese ions in Balb c and C-57 Black mice. At the same time, an increase of Mn2+ elimination half-times and Mn2+ accumulation in the mice in the presence of exogenous melanin was observed.
