The accession of Poland to the European Community will place Polish agriculture in the face of competition which can defy only very well organized farms, equipped in suitable areas and capitals. These conditions can satisfy family farms using mostly own labour force and providing profits similar to those received in non-agricultural parts of the economy. In Polish conditions these family farms can be organized mostly in North-West Poland. The fundamental obstruction in their creation is and will be the insufficient financial capital. The process of creating family farms in Poland will be slow and evolutionary like in many wealthy West-European countries. Of great importance are farm cooperatives in rural areas in Poland, under the stipulation that persons actively engaged in farm cooperative work will be educated. It is the duty of agricultural high schools and universities.
