Paper reports the progress in soil moisture content measuring methods with respect to their application for agriculturally used peat-moorsh soils. The analysis of applicability of the soil moisture content measuring methods to peat-moorsh soils showed the necessity of their bulk density determination in measuring procedure. Presented review showed that the highest progress was achieved in development of tensiometer and time-domain reflectometry (TDR) methods. These methods may be recommended to application in agriculturally used peat-moorsh soils, because they are modern and fullfil the criteria such as: selectivity, destructivity, continuity and accuracy, which are required at field measurements of soil moisture content.
