The possibility of corrosion detection by nondestructive acoustic emission technique was discussed in the paper. The authors proposed a type of alternative nondestructive technique for monitoring of steel structures working in marine environment. Acoustic emission is well-known physical process and measurement method and it is widely used in laboratory and industrial areas. Therefore the application of acoustic emission in pitting corrosion detection of aluminum alloys Al 3104 and Al 1100 was presented. Data analysis and taken photos confirmed that recorded acoustic events was connected with corrosion process.
