Do produkcji biohumusu z osadów ściekowych oraz innych odpadów organicznych zastosowano dżdżownicę (Eisenia foelida). Wyprodukowany biohumus stanowi cenny nawóz organiczno-mineralny. Azot przyswajalny dla roślin stanowił 70% azotu ogółem. Kwasy huminowe wydzielone z biohumusów były pod względem właściwości spektrofotometrycznych zbliżone.

Earthworms (Eisenia foetida) have been used for production of biohumus from waste activated sludges and others organic wastes. Biohumus produced by this way is very valuable organic-mineral fertilizer which contains 70% of total nitrogen as available nitrogen for plants. Humic acids extracted from biohumus had similar spectrophotometric properties.
