The concentrations of lead, cadmium, zinc, copper, iron and manganese in the muscle, kidney and liver of wild and domestic pigs, roes, deer and cattle (120 animals of each species) were determined. Tissue samples were collected of the Wielkopolska region in fall and spring seasons between 1987 and 1990. The levels of lead and cadmium in wild animal tissues were relatively low. Mean levels of Pb were 0.08—0.10 mg in the muscle, 0.11—0.14 mg in the liver, 0.14—0.18 in the kidneys per 1 kg of body weight, and mean Cd levels were 0.013—0.018 mg in the muscle, 0.229—0.240 mg in the liver and 1.029—1.422 mg in the kidney per 1 kg. These levels of Pb and Cd were significantly higher than those in corresponding tissues of pigs and cattle. The contents of Zn, Cu, Fe and Mn in wild animal tissues were within physiological values of domestic animals.
