Omówiono przyczyny podjęcia tematu pracy. Przedstawiono przyjęte założenia konstrukcyjne oraz rozwiązania konstrukcyjne układu tnącego na sieczkę z zastosowaniem noży tarczowych. Omówiono ogólną budowę wielotarczowego aparatu tnącego oraz wyniki badań wstępnych ustalających zakresy zmienności jego podstawowych parametrów eksploatacyjnych.

Further development of the construction of cutting apparatus of chaft cutters, at their present form, is limited to a large extent. That is why it has been attempted to work out a crushing system with the use of disk knives. Such systems would be characterized by favourable energetistic and loading indices. Anticipating comparative research with cutting apparatuses of classical chaff cutters, a mod of a multi disk cutting apparatus was designed and constructed. In the discussed crushing system, initially crushed vegetable mass is pushed onto the system of coaxially fixed rotating disk knives. Theoretical length of chaff is determined by the distance between particular cutting disks, and its regulation is done by the change in disks spacing and the choice of adequate distance rings. Fundamental constructional assumptions and a general construction of the cutting apparatus and the supply system are presented in the paper. A special attention was paid to more difficult problems which appeared during the realization of the project. On the basis of the initial examinations, ranges of variability of parameters significant for learning how the system functions in conditions of different loadings were determined. Their limiting values have been presented.
