Four experiments were carried out, three were fattening trials with bulls and one digestive test with wethers. In experiment I estimated the effect of inoculant 1177 in maize ensiling, in experiments I, II, III introduced ammonia straw as the substitute of hay and found positive results of its using. In all experiments obtaine good gains of live weight around 1000 g. Consumption energy and digestible crude protein were for first parameters front 6,66 to 5,38 oat units: for second one front 443 to 537 g/kg gain live weight. Indices nitrogen metabolism found within phisiological norm, front wethers receiving straw ammonia were higher values N-NH₃ in 3 h and reached 11 mmol/dcm³. Digestibility of rations with ammonia straw was high and for dry matter ranged between 73% - 74%.
