The contents of iron and manganese were determined in samples of strawberry fruits (129), carrots (129), potatoes (129) and wheat grains (132), collected in 2001, 2002 and 2003, sampled from the same sites from commercial plantations in seven various regions of Poland. Metals were determined by the flame atomic absorption spectrometry technique (FAAS) after wet mineralization. The system analytical quality assurance (AQA) was introduced. Mean iron and manganese contents found in plants were: 3,88 mg/kg and 4,21 mg/kg in strawberries, 3.55 mg/kg and 1.91 mg/kg in carrot, 3.77 mg/kg and 1.35 mg/kg in potatoes and 36.9 mg/ kg and 27.8 mg/kg in wheat, respectively. Among four studied species of edible plants, sites and period of sampling had a lowest impact on Fe and Mn contents in potatoes whereas have affect on their contents in strawberries.
