NTRODUCTION: Normal prophylactic and therapeutic procedures aim not only at compensating for hormonal deficiencies, but also at leading a healthy lifestyle. The latter is understood as the provision of adequate nutrition balanced for energy and nutrients. Following a healthy lifestyle during the perimenopausal period prevents body overweight and changes in blood lipid concentration, as well as other risk factors of the cardiovascular system. OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study is to evaluate the nutrition of perimenopausal women based on some biochemical parameters of nutriture. METHODOLOGY: The intake of nutrients by 33 women experimental women at the age of 36-60 was determined for a 24-hour period over 7 sessions. The biochemical tests included basic blood morphology tests, the concentration of total cholesterol, HDL, LDL and triglycerides. The calculation of average values of the analyzed characteristics of nutrition and biochemical parameters were completed using Statistica v.6.0 computer software. RESULTS: An analysis of the nutrition of the studied group of women showed that the total energy intake was adequate. The structure of the intake energy was, however, considerably inadequate. An excessive amount of energy originated from fats and proteins and too little from carbohydrates (35%, 17%, 48%, respectively ). CONCLUSIONS: In the studied population of women, there were no differences in the volumes of the analyzed nutrients between persons with adequate and inadequate blood lipid parameters.
