As a result of unfavourable economic situation and extending drop of conjuncture in agriculture a great number of farms in either, public and private sectors, relinquished the land cultivation on the soils of poorer productivity. The majority of lying fallow lands (the grounds excluded from crop production) concentrate in the provinces of Zielona Góra, Gorzów and Jelenia Góra. The income of farmers in that region dropped down nearly to the powerty, whereas the unemployment, both apparent and latent, in the villages and farm workers settlements drastically increased.
