Zbadano zawartość rtęci w mięśniach piersiowych, wątrobie, nerkach, mięśniu sercowym i płucach 17 orłów bielików padłych w Polsce w latach 1991-1995. Dorosłe bieliki pochodzące z obszaru Wolińskiego Parku Narodowego i jego okolic zawierały względnie większe stężenie rtęci aniżeli okazy z innych rejonów kraju.

Total mercury concentrations were determined in the breast muscles, kidneys, liver, heart and lungs of 17 white-tailed sea eagles collected dead in Poland in 1991-1995. The method of measurement was cold vapour atomic absorption spectrometry (CV-AAS) after wet digestion of the samples with concentrated nitric acid. Four adult sea eagles originating from the Woliński National Park nad its surroundings contained mercury in kidneys at concentration from 18 to 48 µg/g on a wet weight basis, and for the remaining birds corresponding values were from 0.20 to 3.8 µg/g. Two chiks of white-tailed eagle contained mercury in kidneys at concentration from 0.046 to 0.092 µg/g wet weight. Relatively high mercury concentrations detected in the few specimens of sea eagle from the coastal area of the Southwest Baltic Sea in this study are comparable to the values for the birds collected dead in 1980's, which contained in kidneys from 44 to 56 µg Hg/g wet weight.
