The avifauna of three botanical gardens near Seoul was studied. Total number of species in the gardens (16-20) is within range observed in Europe. Total densities of birds observed (66-160 ind./10 ha) were in lower range of the densities in urban parks and wooded areas in Europe. This is the first such report for temperate East Asia.

Badania prowadzono w okresie od 20 grudnia 1996 do 2 lutego 1997. Stwierdzono 16-20 gatunków o sumarycznych zagęszczeniach 66-160 os./10 ha (tab. 1). Oceniona liczba gatunków, biorąc pod uwagę zależność wykrywalności ptaków od liczby wizyt, wynosiła 22-25. Wartości te mieszczą się w zakresie wartości stwierdzanych zimą w parkach i ogrodach miejskich Europy. Badane ogrody można uszeregować od terenu będącego pod największym wpływem antropogennym do terenu o najbardziej naturalnym charakterze: Campus, Chilbo, Anyang. Niektóre gatunki były stwierdzane tylko w jednym z ogrodów i można to przypisać ich biologii w powiązaniu z charakterem parku.
