Consequences of the colossal drought causing a decrease of the yields of vegetables and some fruits by 20% in relation to previous year and of the export reduction are discussed. The situation was additionally worsened by a decrease of purchase prices for some fruits and vegetables (cherries, black currants, cucumbers). On the other hand, however, an increase of the yields of apples (by 20% ) and currants (by 25%) as well as an increase of purchase prices for strawberries and raspberries was noted. The situation of economic subjects in the range of horticulture and vegetable cultivation, breakdown of trade and downfall of many modern fruit-and-vegetable processing enterprises is presented, while a progress in the trade and processing privatization is stressed. Postulates towards the government were put forward, the realization of which would protect particular enterprises and many farms against bankrupcy.
