The fungistatic activity of stinging nettle tops and camfrey roots water extracts on fungi Alternaria alternata, Botrytis cinerea, Colletotrichum lindemuthianum, Fusarium culmorum, F. oxysporum, Puccinia pelargonii-zonalis and Sphaerotheca pannosa was tested under laboratory conditions. Fresh plants were macerated with cold (ez) or boiling (eg) water. All extracts tested inhibited growth of B. cinerea colonies, but (ez) showed less activity. C. lindemuthianum was sensitive only to extracts from nettle tops. No fungistatic activity of extracts was observed in relation to Alternaria alternata. The extracts stimulated germination of A. alternata, B. cinerea and Fusarium spp. conidia, but showed sporostatic activity in Puccinia pelargonii-zonalis and Sphaerotheca pannosa.
