Recently considerable research activity in plant pathology has focused on fungal antagonism because of a chance to replace the chemical protection. Many scientists reported Pythium oligandrum as an aggressive colonizer capable of attacking a wide range of plant-pathogenic fungi. The following article is an attempt to evaluate the studies having been conducted so far and are connected with the mechanism of interaction and biological activity of P. oligandrum in case of plant pathogens.
