The life cycle of Polygraphus poligraphus (L.) is described from an area situated at 700-750 m a.s.l. in the Beskid Sądecki Mts. (S. Poland). There is only one generation a year. Adults begin to infest trees in mid-July. Overwintering occurs mainly in the larval stage, but some adult females may also overwinter. Pupation begins in the first decade of June of the next year. Adults start to emerge at the beginning of July.
