Thoracoscopy is a minimally invasive operative procedure for the examination and surgery of the pleural cavity and its organs. In the presented paper, a case report of one dog with acquired diaphragmatic hernia due to a car accident and treated by thoracoscopy surgery is described. The performed thoracoscopic surgery ended positively and uneventfully. Thoracoscopy seems to be a safe and effective method for the surgical treatment of diaphragmatic hernia in dogs. The view obtained via thoracoscopy during diaphragmatic surgery is superior to the classical abdominal approach because endoscope can be placed directly on the hernial defect and the view is magnified.
