The aim of the study was to assess nutritional quality of patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) and determine factors influencing nutrition, such as socio-demographic factors, health status, lifestyle and adherence (by self-assessment) to nutritional recommendation in CHD. The research was carried out in a total number of 210 CHD patients aged 40-82 years, residing in Warsaw and its vicinity as well as other towns. Current nutrition (mean for 3-day dietary food records) of men examined was analysed on the basis of Diet Quality Index, which was modified in relation to hypolipidemic diet recommendation. Statistical analyses were conducted with the use Chi-square test, with statistical differences at the level of α=0.05. Nutritional quality of men examined with CHD (by DQI) showed statistical differences in relation to factors such as age, place of living, financial status and health status (degree of morbidity and its duration) in people with the best dietary food records (in the most degree met hypolipidemic diet recommnedation) compared to other people. The above mentioned statistifical differences were not found in the relation to the level of education in men examined.
