The aim of the study was to assess dietary habits of sports-active students. The study involved 182 first-year students (48 women and 134 men) of the School of Physical Education and Tourism in Supras´l, Poland. The qualitative evaluation was based on a 24h dietary recall. The quantitative assessment carried out using the Bielin´ska’s method revealed insufficient energy coverage, low carbohydrate and dietary fibre intake, as well as excessive supply of proteins, fats and cholesterol (mainly in men). Carbohydrate meals, carbohydrate-fatty meals, and carbohydrate-fatty meals with animal protein from meat, fish or eggs (especially in men) were found to be the predominant types. Insufficient share of fruit and vegetables in daily food rations, missing meals (mainly teatime and lunch) and snacking between meals reported by more than 70% of the respondents could be a source of concern.
