Pole golfowe jest zbiorem różnie wykorzystywanych powierzchni, które tworzą jeden ekosystem. Budowa pola polega na przekształceniu naturalnego ekosystemu w nowy ekosystem naturalny spełniający funkcję sportową, rekreacyjną i estetyczną. Najistotniejszym problemem dotyczącym tego obszaru jest utrzymanie na nim najwyższej jakości darni według wymagań gry w golfa. Szereg zagadnień przekształcania ekosystemów w pola golfowe jest prezentowanych w tym artykule. Autorzy podzielają opinię, że pola golfowe pełnią rolę ochronną w stosunku do naturalnych ekosystemów na terenach zurbanizowanych.

Golf course is a complex of several maintained in different way areas that make one ecosystem. Building the course consists in transformation of natural ecosystem into other natural ecosystem with new anthropogenic features: sports, recreation and aesthetic. The most important factor of such new area is maintenance practice to keep the top quality turf according to golf rules restrictions and humans’ expectations. Some problems of ecosystem transformation into golf course are presented in this article. Authors present the opinion that golf courses play a protective role in natural ecosystem on urbanized areas.
