Urban airborne particulate matter (APM) was collected non-simultaneously at three sampling sites in Łódź, Poland in summer and winter using an Andersen 8-stage impactor. The sampling sites are characterized by different contributions of coal combustion, traffic intensity and soil resuspension factors to total APM. The concentration of several trace elements (TEs): Ag, As, Ca, Cd, Co, Cr, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sb, Th, U, V and Zn in particulate matter collected on nitrocellulose filters were determined by means of ICP-MS. The obtained aerosol concentrations of TEs were compared to their abundance in fly ash from local highlevel and low-level emission sources.
