In 1992,16 861191 pigs were slaughtered under veterinary inspection in Poland. Trichinoscopy or digestion method revealed Trichinella spiralis invasion in 559 (0.003%) of the examined animals. In 348 (0.39%) out of 86 997 wild boars inspected at the same period of time, T. spiralis was found. Trichinosis was noted in pigs and wild boars in 18 voivodeships, and in pigs in 14 voivodeships. Eleven voi- vodeships were free from trichinosis. For the last 25 years the intensity of T. spiralis invasion in pigs has been stable. It has incraesed however, in wild boars mainly in the nothem part of Poland.
