The object of the study was to define the lower limit of temperatures which could destroy adults and larves of Tribolium confusum (Duv.), which is known as a very stable to heat and low moisture-proof insect. At a temperature of 52°C, 10 minute are needed to kill 100% of adults and larvas. The slight freezing is not useful for this purpose.

Ze względu na to, że występuje ścisła korelacj pomiędzy wilgotnością ziarna zbóż a jego przewodnością temperaturową można walkę ze szkodnikami magazynowymi połączyć z procesem suszenia produktów zbożowych. Badania przeprowadzono na Tribolium confusum Duv., który jest szczególnie odporny na temperaturę i niską wilgotność. Z otrzymanych danych wynika, że 100% letalności owadów osiągnięto już w temperaturze 52°C przy ekspozycji 10 minut. Niezadowalające wyniki otrzymano natomiast wykorzystując niskie temperatury w zakresie - 7 do - 12°C.
