Purple epipactis is an European species which occurs in Poland on the eastern limit of the range. The majority of its stations are dispersed in the south of Poland and another part of the range is in the north. It is connected with subneutrophilous deciduous forests (order Fagetalia). A new station of this protected and threatened orchid was found in the year 2008 in the south-eastern part of the Wyżyna Małopolska Upland, close to Mała Szczeka village, near Staszów (ATPOL EF 19). Population consisted of 13 specimens growing in Tilio-Carpinetum plant association, together with other noteworthy plants: Euphorbia amygdaloides, Galium odoratum, Acer campestre, Hepatica nobilis and Asarum europaeum
