The results of investigation of relationship between the chemical form of tin and lead compounds and their accessibility for maize roots and their effect on mitotic rate in maize tip cells are introduced in that paper. The investigation was carry out in the laboratory condition (with limited microbiological life). It was state that decisive factors connected with accessibility of investigated compounds are as follow: lipophilicity, degree of dissociation, kind and size of ions created by them. The change of chemical forms of investigated compounds have been not observed during the way from medium to roots, The investigated lead compounds are more fitotoxic and accessible to maize roots then tin analogues. The comparison of antimitotic activity of lead and tin compounds have shown higher activity of lead compounds then tin one.
