Autor przedstawia sprawy planowania i finansowania długich tuneli kolejowych i drogowych „bypass”, metody drążenia tuneli przez urabianie materialem wybuchowym i specjalnymi maszynami urabiającymi TBM / TBE. Omawia sprawy związane z pomiarami geodezyjnymi w czasie projektowania i budowy tuneli.

The author deals with the issues of planning and financing long road and rail tunnels, boring methods by means of explosives and TBM/TBE machines. He also talks about the issues of geodesic measurements during the tunnel planning and construction.
