Laminosioptes cysticola was detected in subcutaneous and muscle tissue in poultry. The illness occurred in one flock in the north of Poland. There was a lack of disease symptoms and the birds died suddenly after they had been given new feed. The autopsy revealed fascicular placement nodules similar to millet grains and the histological examination showed encapsulated homogenous masses occurring in the subcutaneous connective and muscular tissue. The presence of the mites is only of aesthetic significance, but it is noteworthy that poultry meat is not inspected in a manner that would disclose the infestation unless the mites were present in very large numbers.
