The work presents results of the research concerned with the determination of power demand by a 8-cyIinder drum rotational separator. Measurements were carried out at threshing and separation of grain from wheat and barley straw. Flow capacity, peripheral speed of separation drums and a working gap between these drums and a grate were changed during the examination. Basides, the influence of humidity, form and type of grain on power demand were analysed. Measurements of power were done in a continuous way with the use of a unit consisiting of an inductive meter of angular velocity, torque and a digital display, cooperating with the Lap-Top Etoile 286 computer. The computer precessed and recorded the data and then worked out the results statistically.
