The aim of the study was to present the assessment criteria of water in unitary packages in regard to current regulations of food law. Due to a great demand for fluids and their significant role in the daily diet of infant, it is recommended to use the water of high quality. For infants and small children the safest is the unitary packed water - natural and free' of chemical and microbiological contaminants. This water is derived from underground water sources or water-bearing layers of certified resources. Natural water of low sodium concentration ≤20 mg/l and low in mineral substances (concentration ≤500 mg/l) is recommended for infants below 1 year of age. For children at age of 1 year or more, the water of medium level of minerals concentration is suitable (to 1500 mg/l dissolved mineral substances). An appropriate, stable composition of water, high chemical and microbiological purity proper composition of macro- and microelements, high production standard and other specific conditions as well are the factors that decide of suitability of bottle water in infants and the youngest children nutrition. The assessment of water assign for children has been conducted in Institute of Mother and Child for many years.
