Against the background of contemporary conditions and general development problems, at the beginning of 21st century, the rational solution of strategic problems in Polish agriculture seems to be of fundamental importance. Actually, in the face of advancing globalization and international competition, the situation of Polish agriculture is rather unfavourable because of reduced demand on agricultural products on local market. The human labour excess in agriculture and rural areas as well as very little possibilities of supporting agriculture from the public funds, should be also considered. At drastic drop of the living standard on rural areas within the nineties, the problem of farmers' (family farms) income became the main challenge for economic and social policy in relation to agriculture. Practical realization of this policy should be based on the rule: ,,as much market as possible, as much state intervention as necessary". As regards the agricultural production, the dilemma: ,,effectiveness versus equality" should be solved very toughtfully, considering also the regional aspects.
