Określono wpływ retardantów daminozydu w preparacie B-Nine 85 SP i flurprimidolu w preparacie Topflor 015 SL na wzrost i kwitnienie begonii bulwiastej ‘Illumination Apricot F₁’ ‘Illumination White F₁’ ‘Tenella Rose F₁ i Tenella Salmon Orange F₁’. W przypadku daminozydu stężenie wynosiło 2550 i 4250 mg·dm⁻³ (B-Nine 0,3 i 0,5%); przy użyciu flurprimidolu odpowiednio 7,5 i 15 mg·dm⁻³ (Topflor 0,05 i 0,1%). Rośliny posadzono 4 kwietnia 2001 r. do doniczek o średnicy 12 cm. Przycięto je nad 3 - 4 liściem w celu wzmożenia krzewienia. W połowie kwietnia begonie opryskano roztworami retardantów. Spośród zastosowanych retardantów największy wpływ na długość pędów głównych miał daminozyd w obu stężeniach. Pędy roślin potraktowanych tym retardantem były krótsze przeciętnie o 20% w stosunku do kontrolnych. Najsilniejszą reakcję obserwowano u odmiany ‘Illumination White F₁’ (19,1 cm przy stężeniu 4250 mg·dm⁻³). Flurprimidol nie wpływał wyraźnie na żadną z wymienionych cech. Liczba szypuł kwiatowych zależała przede wszystkim od odmiany, w mniejszym stopniu obserwowany był wpływ retardantu. Największe kwiaty męskie tworzyła odmiana ‘Illumination White F₁’, która zakwitła najpóźniej - na początku czerwca. Cechą zależną od odmiany była liczba pędów I rzędu. Najwięcej ich odnotowano dla ‘Illumination White F₁’ a najmniej dla ‘Illumination Apricot F₁’.

The influence of daminozid (B-Nine 85 SP) and flurprimidol (Topflor 015 SL) on the growth and flowering of Begonia tuberhybrida ‘Illumination Apricot F₁’, ‘Illumination White F₁’, Tenella Rose and ‘Tenella Salmon Orange F₁’ were estimated. There were two concentrations of each retardant: daminozid 2550 and 4250 mg·dm⁻³ (B-Nine 0.3 and 0.5%) and flurprimidol 7,5 and 15 mg·dm⁻³ (Topflor 0.05 and 0.1%). Plants were planted on 4 April 2001 to 12 cm diameter pots. Plants were cut above 3 - 4 leaf to enhance branching. After 10 days Begonia tuberhybrida was sprayed with retardants. The influence of daminozid on the length of main stems was the strongest at both concentration. Stems treated with this retardant were shorter on average by 20% as comparing with the control. ‘Illumination White F₁’ showed the strongest reaction (19.1 cm by 0.3% B-Nine). Flurprimidol had no significant influence on any of the recorded features. Number of flower stems first of all depended on cultivar. The retardant influence was much more significant. The biggest male flowers produced ‘Illumination White F₁’, which flowered as the last at the beginning of June. The feature depending on the cultivar was also number of the first order stems. The biggest one was obtained in ‘Illumination White F₁’, the smallest was recorded in ‘Illumination Apricot F₁’.
