The effects of ethephon treatment on amino acid composition of protein and on the content of potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, and copper in the fruits of hot pepper were examined. It was noticed that the content of the essential amino acids and the major amino acids, such as aspartic and glutamic acids, serine, leucine, as well as of potassium, calcium and manganese in the fruit after ethephon treatment was higher than in the controls. Changes of microelement content in hot pepper resulting from ethephon treatment were not significant.
