The yields and feeding value of naked oats, husked oats and spring barley grown in pure sowing or in mixtures was investigated in a field trial. During three years of study in pure stands the highest yield was recorded for husked oat and it was 17% and 15% higher than the yield of naked oats and spring barley, respectively. In the mixture stands the total yield of grain was similar to the yield of the better yielding component in pure stand (husked oats). After grain dehusking yield relations were contrary. Yield of husked oats was lower by 13% and spring barley by 9%. In mixtures the lowest yield of dehusked grain was for mixture of husked oats with barley. The best parameter of grain quality (protein content, oil content and crude energy content per 1 kg of grain) was found for naked oats. Our studies have shown that naked oats is a very good component of cereal mixtures because it increases protein and fat content as well as concentration of crude energy in grain.
