The concentration of Ca, Cu, Mg, Zn and inorganic P in sera of cows in a natural environment polluted with Cd (Warsaw region) was examined. Samples of blood were collected 6 times from 66 dairy cows from the Warsaw region in the years 1986—1989. The content of. Cd, Ca, Mg, Cu and Zn and inorganic P was determined by the ASS method according to Bagiński and coworkers (3) on the basic of the Cd content the results were divided into three groups: 1 below 0,27 umol Cd/1, 2 grom 0,27 to 0,53 umol Cd/1, 3 more than 0,53 = mol Cd/1, and the results were analyzed in relation to the Cd content. Cadmium did not affect the content of the examined elements in blood. The concentration of Ca, inorganic P and Mg was at normal levels whereas the content of Zn was high and of Cu low.
