This work is a result of papers review concerning maintenance of Lolium perenne in sward of temporary grasslands. Participation of Lolium perenne in sowed mixtures in Poland hesitate in wide borders, but more often meet lover values - to 20%. This grass is recommended to mixtures intended for permanent and convertible grasslands, for cutting utilization, and for pastures. This species developing best on mineral soils, but it can be introduced on moderate moisture peat-muck soil, particularly in mixtures for pastures. After sowing, seeds are germinating fast, follow very fast developing of seedlings and intensive tillering, resulted that Lolium perenne in first year decisive dominate in meadow-pasture sward. This grass is competitive with other species, even with grasses with high competitive coefficient, such Dactylis glomerata. During frost winters Lolium perenne can freeze, irrespective of habitat. Factors causing withdrawing Lolium perenne can be not only low temperatures, but also snow-mould stroke. Regeneration ability and rate of this species are determinate by water and nitrogen access in soil.
