Ultrastructural picture of parotid was examined in 90 Wistar rats after 2,4 and 6 weeks following the chronical intoxication with lead acetate (50, 500, or 1000 mg Pb/dm3 administered with drinking later). Accumulation of fat bodies in dilated rough endoplasmic reticulum canals, in phagosomes and mitochondria, giving evidence of lipid metabolism disorder, was found. The excess of lipids accumulated in some cells resulted in total degeneration of cell organelles.
