405 cases of traumatic bone fractures in dogs and cats registered at the University and Clinic of Animal Surgery in Wrocław in 1991/92 were investigated. The case history, clinical and radiological examinations of each individual case enabled the classification of bone fractures and indicated the appropriateness of the treatment of the osteogenesis bone fractures by the ZESPOL method. It was found that the ZESPOL method can be used at about 75% of the cases of fractures of the femoral, shin, brachial and forearm bones. An evaluation of the causes and frequency of various types of fractures were discussed.
