The paper is a review of published papers on the effect of herbicides on birds. The persistence of herbicides in the environment and their toxicity are considerably lower than in the case of other pesticides. Thus the main factors affecting birds to herbicide have been well documented in forests, especially in the case of breeding populations. Significantly less is known about birds in herbicide-treated agrocenoses, although it is the main area of herbicides treatment in Europe. The authors suggested that research works on this subject in Poland were needed.
