Szanse i zagrożenia rozwoju regionu przygranicznego Środkowego Nadodrza (woj. gorzowskie i zielonogórskie) związane ze współpracą transgraniczną oraz procesem integrowania się Polski ze Wspólnotą Europejską omówiono w kontekście zadań władz państwowych i lokalnych oraz prywatnych przedsiębiorców i społeczeństwa w perspektywie integracji europejskiej.

The author prcscnts an analysis of the results of research performed by thc Polish and German sides concerning the possibilities to initiate a iransfrontier cooperation in the central Odra-Land-Region. A thesis has been justified that it is necessary to crcate the Euro-Region of frontier areas situated in Gorzów and Zielona Góra voivodships. Possibilities and endangerement which may result from the transfrontier cooperation have been considered, as well as tasks which should be fulfilled: 1) by state authorities: support of socio-economic development and determination of forms for organizational and logistical cooperation in cases of important initiatives, 2) by local authorities (voivodships and districts): enlarged scope of competence which allows to agree the legał, techno-organizational, economic and physical problems in their areas, 3) by private enterprises: cooperation with German Chambers of both Commerce and Industry, technological parks and private firms. Foundation of Polish-German Economic Association which will initiate and appraise the plans for frontier areas development and transfrontier cooperation. Five conclusions have been formulated, determining possibilities and profits to be obtained in the central Odra-Land-Region from the development of neighbourly cooperation.
