The examinations were carried out on 1800 eggs. On each egg-shell a drop of solution cantaining 1000 - 10 000 CFU of Salmonella enteritidis was placed. Two strains, i.e. Salmonella enteritidis No 87 and No 885, were used for the examinations. After their infection the eggs were stored at 2°, 20° and 30°C for 0, 7, 14, 28 and 56 days. In none of the 1800 eggs infected experimentally was any penetration of Salmonella through the egg-shell observed.
