W 3-letnich doświadczeniach laboratoryjnych badano zdolność kiełkowania 12 odmian i rodów pszenżyta ozimego z 8 terminów zbioru i 3 sposobów suszenia ziarna. Wyróżniono dwie grupy odmian o zróżnicowanej zdolności kiełkowania. Do odmian dobrze kiełkujących zaliczono Lasko, Malno i MAH-885, do słabo kiełkujących Presto i Largo oraz rody MAH-384 i MAH-785. Najbardziej stabilne wyniki zdolności kiełkowania uzyskano dla prób młóconych po dosuszeniu w kłosach.

The germination ability of 12 cultivars and strains of winter triticale harvested at 8 maturity dates and stored after 3 drying methods was tested in laboratory experiments carried out for 3 years. The weight of 1000 kernels ranged from 37.2 to 54.4 g. There was a negative correlation (r = -0.361 to r = -0.732} between moisture content at harvest and germination ability of kernels treshed directly after harvest and dried at 20"C. The germination ability of cultivars differed. Cultivars Lasko, Malno and MAH-885 belonged to high germination class and Presto, Largo, MAH-384, MAH-785 - to a low class. The drying at 40°C gave good results only in case of seeds of high potential germination ability (4th to 6th harvest dates). The most stable germination was observed when seeds were treshed following their drying in spikes.
