There are 149 forest landscape types (mesoregions) in Poland. Moreover the habitat biodiversity includes 36 types of forest, practically characterized in details by forms of surface features, topographical location, the height above sea-level, directions of terrain exposition and slope. 112 types and subtypes of forest soils as well as the types, subtypes and varieties of forest humus are distinguished. Described forest undergrowth includes 204 indicatory plant species including 69 species of the trees and shrubs. Just 485 associations of aquatic and terrestrial plants, 80 forest and bushy plant sets inclusive, are denoted in Poland. The characteristics of forest plant associations was given in the paper. From among about 60 thousand organisms registered in total until now, nearly 36 thousand are the plants, animals, fungi and microorganisms living only or also in the forests. Thus, about 60% biological species deversity are localized in the forest ecosystems.
