Badano wpływ ekstraktu flawonoidów z tarczycy bajkalskiej na gospodarką lipidową w osoczu krwi szczurów doświadczalnych. Hipocholesterolemiczne działanie flawonoidów z tarczycy bajkalskiej stwierdzono u zwierząt otrzymujących w diecie ekstrakt w ilości 0,05%, a hipotriglicerydemiczne u otrzymujących ekstrakt w ilości 0,025%

The effect of extract of flavonoids from root of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi on plasma lipids metabolism in rats was studied. The investigation was carried out on male Buffalo rats which were divided into 3 groups (n = 10) and fed a control diet for two weeks. During the next four weeks of the experiment, one group of rats was fed a control diet, while the other two groups were fed a diet with 0,025% and 0,05% of extract from root of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi respectively. The extract contained 84,77% of baicalin. At the end of the experiment the rats were anaesthetized and blood samples were taken by heart puncture and in plasma total lipid content was determined by using Lachema test kit and total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol and triacyloglycerol content - by using Biosystems test kit. It was found that the effect of extract from Scutellaria baicalensis on plasm lipid metabolism in rats depended on the quantity of this extract in the diet. The hypocholesterolemic effect of extract of flavonoids from Scutellaria baicalensis was found only in rats fed diet with 0,05% extract content and hypotriglyceridemic - in rats fed diet with 0,025% extract content.
