Present analysis showed that the production of poultry meat within the 1990s increased faster in comparison to the European Union and world development. However, the European integration carries certain risks. There are some delays in implementation of the EU standards, what may limit the trade in poultry products on the enlarged Community market. The automatic removal of duties and other barriers to trade with the actual EU countries will expose Polish producers to tight competition in prices. The concerns of poultry industry consist in the short time left for adoption of the EU standards, the debts of many poultry companies, and dispersion of the producers. However, it is expected that after 2005 the poultry meat production and consumption will steadily increase both in the European Union and in newly associated countries. This growth will be stimulated by increasing demand for poultry meat.
