The parasitofauna of 133 brook trouts, Salvelinus fontinalis (Mitchill), and 130 brown trouts, Salmo trutta morpha fario Linne, were studied. The state of pathologic changes in 119 brook trouts and 173 brown trouts was determined at the same time. The fish originated from 5 Tatra ponds and 4 Tatra rivers. Five parasite species were detected: Digenea: Crepidostomum farionis (Mueller, 1780), Crepidostomum metoecus Braun, 1900, Nicolla wisniewskii (Ślusarski, 1958); Nematoda: Cystidicoloides tenuissima (Zeder, 1800) and Acanthocephala: Neoechinorhynchus rutili (Müller, 1780). The following pathologic changes were the most common: paleness of the liver, swells and ecchymosis. Tumours of thyroid gland and stomach, as well as spinal cord deformations were detected in brook trouts.
