The aim of the study was to determine the e xtent of the demand for flowers in Warsaw in 2007, as well as its dependence on economic and non - economic factors. The analyses showed that in 2007 a person surveyed spent 148.49 z l on ornamentals, including 20.49 z l spent on chrysanthemums for All Saints’ Day. As regards the whole population of Warsaw, it was estimated that one inhabitant spent an average of 132 z l (24 pieces in terms of cut roses) in comparison with 137 z l (23 cut roses) in 2003. Cut flowers were bought most often – by 98.33% of those sur veyed, 3 - 6 times a year, 3 - 5 pieces at a time. The study proved that along with the rise in income and the level of education, there followed an increase in the expenditure on flowers. The level of this expenditure was higher among middle - aged people, but there was no difference in that respect between men and women.
